An App Garden

on March 21, 2014

Spent part of yesterday with fellow members of F11, a women’s photography collective, learning about i-phone photo apps. The hostess had a beautiful centerpiece on the table and after the meeting, we took pictures of the beautiful roses  and then put the apps to work. I used an app called DistressedFX to create this image.

joanntooley.com unveils a new look

on February 9, 2014

My newly designed website, joanntooley.com, is up and running. It has some new features that I am very excited about. First of all, there is color! My commitment to black & white photography remains as strong as ever but I have begun photographing flowers in a studio-like setting and adding textures, lettering and other enhancements to make the flowers pop. Another first, the flowers–and, in fact, all the pictures on the site–can be purchased directly on joanntooley.com. To see how that works, just click on Prints.

The new site is a combination of both new and old  work, reflecting my two favorite shooting locales. I enjoy photographing in West Virginia, searching out broken down buildings and long, empty roads, and the nation’s capital has plenty of allure for me as well.

I am very grateful to Teri Murphy who designed my new site. In addition to operating her own web design firm, she teachers website design at the Arlington campus of Northern Virginia Community College.
